Airport day

We woke up at 630 am + took a taxi to the airport at 7 am. We went through security in about 10 minutes and our gate was the first one out. It was a very smooth morning. We got on our plane, took hour long naps, + arrived in Bangkok.

We really didn't want to go all the way in + out of bangkok, get stuck in traffic, + spend the day walking around the stuffy city. So even though we had flights to surat thani at 945 am, we booked flights at 5 pm to get there sooner. It was about 10:30 by then.

We had a fabulous day in the airport. First we took a food tour. We sampled vegetable summer rolls, which we have been trying to find all trip but everything is fried! They were delicious. Then we went to get pad see-ew which was ew. There were like 3 noodles + the veggies weren't fresh. Waste of 200 baht (which is a lot for one yucky meal). Next up, fried egg on toast. We obviously enjoyed that, but wish the toast wasn't so blatantly white. Following our 3rd course, we got some sticky rice + mango for dessert. They pour a creamy coconut sauce with lots of sugar over the rice, so it is very rich. But yummy + different.

It was about noon by then, so we decided to try + check in. They let us + then we made a bee-line for the free computers with internet. We researched hostels + hotels in Surat Thani + in ko phangnan, which is where we are actually trying to get to. The ferries end around 5pm each day, so we are hoping that we can pay a boat to get us there when we arrive. After messing around on the computer until about 2, we then took naps. We laid down on a row of seats, with our bag strap around our neck (we checked our backpacks) + the bag itself under our head as a pillow. We knew it would deter any thieves, who would look at us like we were crazy.

We woke up around 300, ready for another meal. Our metabolisms had really been kicked up a notch by flying, eating, playing on computers, + sleeping. I got an egg on pretzel sandwich (eh) from auntie annes + marissa got a tuna sandwich on a baguette. Airport food is expensive. We then wanted to be even more lazy + eat french fries. I picked the cheapest + best looking ones ( we had 3 options of restaurants). When we bit into them, they weren't too potatoey. Turns out they were pork. I told Marissa they were chicken though. So luckily we spit them out + got our money back. It is weird to us that no one understands english in the airport, yet the tuk tuk drivers + massage therapists do.

We decided to stick with burger king fries + then added in a hot chocolate from dunkin donuts. I don't think that I have willingly been to a burger king in about 10 years. What happened to me?

So then we decided to exercise. We put on our sneakers (well mine were already on) + then power-walked for 30 minutes. Probably more like 20. Whatever we are on vacation.

Right now we are about to board the plane for Surat Thani. We actually really enjoyed our day + were glad to spend the day in the air conditioning.
