Get me out of here

So yes we got a room in Leela Beach, a 10 minute walk from Haat Rin, but no way was it decent. We basically had a hose for a shower, a western toilet that we had to use a bucket to empty (ya did NOT do that), pillows that didn't have pillowcases that came off, holes in the floor + door where bugs could crawl in + a fan.

The bed, if you look close enough you can see the filth

Immediately upon arriving, we started looking for a new place which was impossible. We got a delicious kiwi + lemon smoothie + decided massages were a must. We found a place that was nice + were told we had to come back in a half hour. Keep in mind it is 1030 pm + the roads are so crowded with drunk farangs. So we go out + explore.

For those of you who don't know, the Full Moon Party is supposed to be some crazy 5000 person party once a month where all the westerner backpackers go. There are lots of drugs + drinking. Our initial plan was to just go there + maybe have a beer + just experience it. Well, after walking around for 10 minutes the night before the party, we were done. For the whole week before, people stay up all night + party. It was the night before + people were ridiculous. Words can not even describe it.

So we go get our massages, which are amazing. I tried not to fall asleep because I wanted to be exhausted upon arrival to our disgusting bungalow. But of course, it was so amazing + I definitely took a cat nap. After the massages, we get some food (falafel + shashouka) + by then it was 2 am. We decide we have got to be tired enough to go to sleep. We hike back to our bungalow, which is literally a hike up crazy steps + steep hills. We brush our teeth (bottled water) + decided to wake up at 8am to get out of there + find a new place.

Well after 5 minutes of laying on the disgusting bed with our towels under us (we wouldn't touch the dirty bed), we were done. We knew there was a 6am ferry out of koh phangnan. We had a very good idea what the full moon party would be + we had had ENOUGH. We had about 4 hours until we could depart + decided we really needed to shower, because we had been lugging backpacks all night. When exploring hotels to stay at, the 3 that were on the way to ours on leela beach were all 10x better. We would walk by them to get to ours + just cry out. Money can not buy you everything. We would have paid a ridiculous sum to have a nice hotel. Honestly even a yucky one with ac + clean sheets. But everything was FULL.

Our phones are worth more than the entire room

So on our journeys through the areas, we had seen communal showers/baths at one part of one of the hotels. It wasn't super nice, but not a hose + hole. So we brought our change of clothes, towel, + bathing supplies + set out like homeless people to go shower.

I have honestly never been more happy to have a cold shower in my life. We could not stop laughing at how ridiculous the whole scenario was.

Can you tell how happy she is?

So we shower + head back out to haad rin to book a ferry. Thankfully one of the shops was still open, so we booked it at 3 am + knew we had to stay up the next three hours, because there was no way we would go back to our bungalow for anything but to get our bags + leave.

We had a much needed beer (don't worry just one). + watched the absolute ridiculousness of these people. So many drunk, drugged up people. We could not be happier to get out of this place. We made some friends who were just enjoying a beer way on down the beach, watching the action. Exactley what we wanted to do. They even walked us back to our bungalows to get our bags. We are very picky.

We observed this from a distance

So we jump in a taxi at 6 am, not having slept in a while, + get on a ferry. Note we have been in Haad Rin for less than 12 hours at this point:) We are currently on the bus connecting the pier to surrathani + then we will be in krabi hopefully by 3pm. We are staying in the nicest place we find, having an entire spa day tommorow, + never ever going back to such a trashy place again. Ew.

Finally on the ferry

On the bus. These cute curtains are on every bus in Thailand.

So yes we admit we are a little spoiled, but you couldn't pay me to stay at that place. And yes, if we had a nice hotel it would have been completely different.
